St. Paul, Minn. — A fire that evacuated the Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake Thursday morning is under control.

Crews responded to the fire, which officials say started in a construction area at around 9:30. Officials say fire fighters are working to clear smoke from the area. The fire was limited to the construction zone.

Spokesman Bryan Prettyman says no injuries were reported.

"The fire began in a closed portion of the gaming area that was being remodeled," Prettyman said. "As a precaution we evacuated the southern portion of the casino."

Prettyman says a welder working on the roof above the construction zone likely started the fire when he ignited some roof materials.

The casino and hotel will remain open, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community said in a news release.
