DNR delay puts Mississippi River section in limbo

St. Paul, Minn. — The Department of Natural Resources' authority over a big portion the Mississippi River in the state has expired after the DNR missed a deadline for establishing new rules on what's called the Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area.

The legislature had ordered the agency to go through the rule-making process involving governmental and non-governmental agencies as well as the public.

For more on what this means, and what's next for a stretch of the river from the town of Ramsey to Hastings, we talked to Whitney Clark. He's the executive director of Friends of the Mississippi River.
