QB at Minn. community college shot, killed in Ind.
by Tim Post, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — The quarterback for a Minnesota community college was shot and killed in Indianapolis early Saturday morning.
Dominque Corder, 20, was a sophomore at Central Lakes Community College. Corder, who was from Indianapolis, quarterbacked the Central Lakes football team. He was a community college All-American and a conference MVP. According to a police report, Corder was shot in the stomach less than an hour after midnight while talking to someone in a pickup truck.
"He was a good kid, he was a really good kid," said Greg Medek, head football coach at Central Lakes. "I grew quite close to him. He's going to be missed by many people here. He had a really bright future. It's unfortunate he's not going to have a chance to achieve that."
Medek said Corder was taking liberal arts classes at Central Lakes and planned to transfer to a four-year college in the future.
"He worked hard at his academics, he was a good student, he was very driven to succeed," Medek said.
There have been no arrests in Corder's shooting.
