House fire in Minneapolis sends 3 to hospitalby Elizabeth Dunbar, Minnesota Public Radio
St. Paul, Minn. — Three people were injured in a house fire in Minneapolis early Tuesday morning, city fire officials said.
The fire was reported at about 6:10 a.m. in the 2200-block of Garfield Avenue South. Two females suffered smoke inhalation and one male had lacerations and burns. All three were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.
Authorities say the three were alert when paramedics arrived.
The Minneapolis Fire Department said much of the house was engulfed in flames, including the first and second floor porches, the south side of the house and on the two floors and attic.
About 40 firefighters were needed to fight the fire, and as of mid-morning, a crew was still on the scene dousing hot spots.
Authorities are investigating what caused the fire.
