Duluth: Peace Bell
by Marc Sanchez, Minnesota Public RadioDuluth, Minn. — Follow West Skyline Parkway up a windy path in Duluth and you will eventually reach Enger Park.
Named after Norwegian immigrant and self-made business man Bert Enger, the park sits on top of the bluff overlooking Lake Superior and Duluth's industrial shipping industry.
The park itself isn't too big but it has a lot to offer. Besides the sweeping views, there's a rec center and the newest addition: a Japanese, zen garden.
It's in the zen garden that the Peace Bell is located. The bell is a replica of a bell that rings out in the city of Ohara, Japan -- the sister city of Duluth.
