St. Paul, Minn. — An attorney who pleaded guilty to embezzling $2.5 million from clients and his law firm was sentenced this week to 6 1/2 years in prison.
Michael Margulies, 57, had been a partner at Lindquist & Vennum in Minneapolis until he was fired when the firm discovered the embezzlement earlier this year.
According to court documents, Margulies used forged checks and fraudulent expense reports and invoices to embezzle about $2.5 million between 1994 and 2010.
Margulies pleaded guilty to wire fraud in June.
