Former Gov. Quie endorses Demmer in 1st District

St. Paul, Minn. (AP) — Former Gov. Al Quie has endorsed Republican Randy Demmer in the southern Minnesota congressional district he once represented.

Demmer's campaign announced the endorsement from Quie, a Republican, on Wednesday.

Quie represented the 1st District for two decades in the U.S. House before becoming Minnesota's governor in 1979.

Former Gov. Arne Carlson is backing Democratic incumbent Tim Walz. Carlson is a Republican who has crossed party lines to endorse Democrats.
