Hundreds urge reprieve for North High

Supporters of saving North High School in Minneapolis say shutting the school down would affect the entire city. Superintendent Bernadeia Johnson says low enrollment and poor student achievement justify closing the school. But more than 200 people spoke out against the plan at a community forum last night. Some claimed the district set North up to fail, in part, by closing the elementary and middle schools that fed into the high school.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Minnesota Public Radio Education reporter Tom Weber who was at the forum.
