In cities across the country, murals have become an antidote for unwanted graffiti. Studies show that structures covered with community-oriented artwork are rarely the targets of vandals.

Minnesota Public Radio reporter Nikki Tundel put together this virtual tour of Twin Cities murals. Some of the public paintings depict the area's cultural heritage. Others showcase the personal interests of the building owners. All of them remain graffiti-free.
