Minn. DNR increases invasive species enforcement

July 1, 2010

St. Paul, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is increasing efforts to stop the spread of invasive species over the Fourth of July weekend.

The DNR also is alerting boaters to a new law that takes effect Thursday requiring boaters to remove drain plugs and drain water before leaving any lake or river in Minnesota.

DNR officials plan a news conference at Gray's Bay on Lake Minnetonka to announce the stepped-up enforcement efforts.
