St. Paul, Minn. — One of the drivers involved in a crash that killed six young people in Cambridge this spring was drunk, Minnesota State Patrol officials said Tuesday.

Josh Netzel, 24, of Sandstone, had a blood alcohol level of .24 -- three times the legal limit.

Netzel was driving on Highway 95 in Isanti County when it collided head-on with a car driven by 16-year-old SeBrina Schumacher. Netzel and his passenger were killed. Schumacher was the lone survivor in her vehicle.

State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske said alcohol undoubtedly played a role in the accident.

"It demonstrates the tragic circumstances that we see all too often when people get behind the wheel after drinking too much," he said.

Officials have not released the final toxicology report on the other driver.
