Regional Spotlight: Carrie Henneman Shaw

Like her hero, Dawn Upshaw, Carrie Henneman Shaw is an artist who embraces multiple styles freely and with passion.

St. Paul, Minn. — A singer's singer, she is as comfortable with the vocal fireworks of the early baroque as she is with the musical demands of the most contemporary composers.

That versatility was on display for the judges of the McKnight Artist Fellowships for Performing Musicians who recently awarded her one of four $25,000 prizes. That versatility is also on display in this week's Regional Spotlight.
