Emmer: No public money for stadiums
St. Paul, Minn. (AP) — Republican Tom Emmer says he opposes public money for stadiums but isn't taking a position yet on a Vikings stadium proposal being outlined at the Capitol.
The GOP-endorsed gubernatorial candidate spoke at a news conference Monday before flying around the state on a campaign tour with other top Republican candidates.
Emmer says if taxpayer funds go to stadiums other businesses will ask for similar treatment.
But he wouldn't comment directly on the latest proposal for the Vikings.
He is flying to Rochester, Mankato, Alexandria, Moorhead and Duluth with running mate Annette Meeds and candidates for state auditor, secretary of state and attorney general.
