The role of the arts in the healing process

St. Paul, Minn. — Sometimes the practice of medicine is referred to as "the healing arts."

But what role do the arts actually play in the healing process? That's the topic of a conference beginning Wednesday in Minneapolis. The Society for the Arts in Healthcare is part of a growing movement integrating the arts of all kinds in to the medical field.

Dr. Jon Hallberg told All Things Considered about the practicalities of merging medicine and arts.
