Brief lockdown after knife found at Orr schoolby Bob Kelleher, Minnesota Public Radio
Orr, Minn. — The school in the town of Orr went into lockdown this morning when a knife was found.
A deputy with the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department in Hibbing said a weapon described as a large knife was found in the school. The Orr campus of the St. Louis County School District includes both an elementary and a high school.
Deputy Tim Harkenen said the knife was not found on a person; and said no one was hurt. The school went into lockdown, sending a pre-recorded message to parent's homes, and calling in the Sheriff's Department. The lockdown was over by midday.
Deputies searched the school Thursday morning and their investigation continues. Harkenen stressed no one was immediately identified as a suspect for bringing the knife to school, and there were no victims.
