St. Paul, Minn. — The New York Times calls them "something extraordinary" -- the Parker Quartet, a group that takes its name from one of the oldest landmarks in Boston -- the Omni Parker House.

It's a fitting appellation to describe the origins of these four young string stars from around the country who found each other at Boston's New England Conservatory.

Like the literary giants Hawthorne, Longfellow, and Emerson, who gathered at the Parker House to discuss their great works, the Parker Quartet is making great music together -- especially this season as the first-ever Artists-in-Residence with Minnesota Public Radio.

Members of the quartet have been playing and teaching throughout the region, and their thoughts, pictures, audio and video are all captured on the Web.

The quartet gives its final concert tonight at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis. Don't miss your chance to hear this terrific ensemble live.
