U of M student stabbed during an attempted robbery near Mpls. campus

St. Paul, Minn. — A University of Minnesota student was stabbed during an attempted robbery near the school's Minneapolis campus Monday night.

According to a crime alert sent out by U of M officials, the student was jogging in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood when a lone suspect approached, demanded valuables and then stabbed the student.

The crime alert stated that the victim was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

The suspect was described as a white male in his late 30s with a graying beard.

Minneapolis police are investigating the incident.
