Katherine on my Chest

St. Paul, Minn. — Stanley Woolner is a Twin Cities medical doctor as well as composer and pianist. While his work as an MD is important to him, he most freely and lovingly expresses himself through music.

For him, music has a healing property, giving voice to unspeakable emotions and, at the same time, transcends those feelings to bring a measure of peace and wholeness.

Woolner's first child, Katherine, was by all accounts a remarkable little one.

Her death -- her murder -- at the hands of Woolner's estranged wife and Katherine's mother was a shock almost too difficult to comprehend.

Dr. Woolner found solace in music, a piano piece he titled "Katherine on my chest/with you at your Grave."

---

The fully-orchestrated version of "Katherine on my chest/with you at your Grave" will be performed by the Minnesota Sinfonia Friday night at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, and Saturday at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis. Dr. Woolner gives a pre-concert talk at 1:00 at the Basilica.
