Riverview resident braces for flood redux

Residents who experienced an "500-year" crest of the Red River prepare for another potential spring flood.

St. Paul, Minn. — In the Red River Valley, they're gearing up for another major flood this year.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 38-foot crest in its latest flood forecast for the Fargo-Moorhead area. That's 3 feet short of last year's all-time record. But that forecast means that both cities have sandbagging operations underway.

Last year, Minnesota Public Radio News followed the flood fight of three Moorhead families on its News Cut blog. Bob Collins spent a week with the residents on Riverview Circle -- a threatened neighborhood built on a peninsula in the Red River -- and he reported on their sandbagging saga and the fight to save their homes.

To find out how the flood preparations are going now, ATC's Tom Crann checked back with Riverview resident Donna Morse.
