Mpls. musician 'Mad Ripple' talks with MPR's Chris Roberts

A few years ago, Walsh re-invented himself musically as the Mad Ripple. His weekly gathering of like-minded, song focused musicians called "the Mad Ripple Hootenanny," became a South Minneapolis institution. You can hear the casual, spontaneous vibe of the "Hoot," as it's called, on The Mad Ripple's second full length album, "Her Tattoos Could Sail Ships."
Jim Walsh told MPR's Chris Roberts that all the years of obsessing about music, as a critic for Twin Cities papers and as a songwriter, has led to a batch of songs of which he's really proud.
