Duluth, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Tim Pawlenty has appointed prosecutor Dale Harris as a judge in St. Louis County.
Harris will fill a seat that opened up with the retirement of District Judge Gerald Martin last October.
Harris has been an assistant St. Louis County attorney since 2004. He's also a reserve judge on the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals in Washington. He has also served as the chief deputy St. Louis County court administrator and as a judge advocate with the U.S. Navy.
Pawlenty cited Harris' military background when he announced the appointment in Duluth on Monday.
The 42-year-old Harris was born in Two Harbors and lives in Hermantown. He's a 1993 honors graduate of the Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul.
