Need to keep food on the table?
The Bach Society of Minnesota explores the life of a choral scholar in Germany during the 18th century through inspiring works by JS Bach, his predecessors and successors.
The program is titled "Sing for Your Supper."
And this afternoon on Regional Spotlight, we'll feature a motet by one of Johann Sebastian Bach's uncles.
---
Motet; Johann Christoph Bach
The righteous one, even though he dies too soon, is nonetheless at peace.
He pleases God well and is dear to him / And is taken away from life among sinners,
And is pulled away, So that evil does not corrupt his mind, Nor false teachings trouble his soul;
He is soon made perfect / And has the fulfillment of many years.
For his soul pleases God well.
Therfore he hastens with Him from this evil life.
