Review: Cop acted properly in N St. Paul shooting

Authorities say a Maplewood Police Officer was justified in using deadly force when she fatally shot the man who killed North St. Paul Officer Richard Crittenden in September.

The Ramsey County Attorney's Office released the findings of its review Wednesday, saying Officer Julie Nelson won't face charges.

The officers went to a North St. Paul apartment on Sept. 7 when they were attacked by 34-year-old Devon Dockery. Dockery took Crittenden's gun and shot him in the head at point blank, killing him.

Dockery and Olson then exchanged gunfire. Olson was injured in the attack, and Dockery was killed.

County Attorney Susan Gaertner says based on the review, she's convinced Crittenden and Olson acted properly, and heroically.
