Dealing with adoptions in Haiti

Among those struggling with the chaotic aftermath in Haiti are several hundred children awaiting adoption by parents in the United States.

U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar has asked federal agencies to help speed up the adoption process for Americans awaiting children from Haiti, but it's difficult to say how long it will take to unite these new families.

To help us better understand the international adoption process, All Things Considered talked with Barb McGuire, senior director of Adoption at Children's Home Society and Family Services in St. Paul.
