Could the Vikings leave Minnesota?
by Cathy Wurzer, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — Fans of the Minnesota Vikings rally this afternoon at the state Capitol to drum up political support for a new, publicly funded professional football stadium.
The group calls itself "Save the Vikes," because its organizers are convinced the Vikings will leave Minnesota if they don't get a new stadium.
To get a sense of whether that's likely to happen, and whether the Vikings are likely to get public money for a new stadium, Cathy Wurzer talked to sports industry consultant Phil Schaaf, a Minnesota native.
Schaaf is the author of "Sports Incorporated, 100 Years of Sports Business." He joined us by phone from his home in San Francisco.
