St. Paul, Minn. — A brand new band from San Francisco, Girls specialize in always-sunny California pop -- jangling guitars, beautiful harmonies and flawless hooks.

Frontman Christopher Owens layers this sunny backdrop with darker lyrics reminiscent of more introverted artists.

Their unique blend of sun and shadow has rightfully earned them plenty of critical praise, including a Best New Album nod from Pitchfork Media.

Girls stopped by The Current for a live performance of their new material.

Songs performed: "Heartbreaker," "Ghost Mouth" and "Lauren Marie."
