Pawlenty, senators to mark Veterans Day in Minn.

Minnesota's official tribute to military veterans is being led by three members of the congressional delegation and Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

The state's Veterans Day Program was scheduled for midmorning Wednesday at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights.

Aside from Pawlenty, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken and Rep. Betty McCollum were planning to be on hand.

Veterans who came early were being treated to a buffet breakfast.

Franken is also spending part of Veterans Day with a disabled Vietnam veteran and his service dog, Calvin.

Minnesota's junior Democratic senator will be on hand at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis on Wednesday. That's where Ken Stenzel will show others how Calvin has improved his quality of life.

Franken will also talk about the Service Dogs for Disabled Veterans Act, his first bill to become law.

The legislation established a pilot program and study for organizations that provide service dogs to disabled veterans.
