Man sentenced for using FedEx to send meth to Minn.

A California man was sentenced Thursday for mailing 90 grams of methamphetamine to Minnesota via Federal Express.

Bryan Ryu Inouye, 33, received a 120-month federal prison sentence and five years of supervised release on one count of methamphetamine distribution.

In his plea agreement, Inouye admitted to sending methamphetamine to Minnesota on Feb. 21, 2008. He also admitted that he was responsible for the distribution of 50,000 tablets, or 12,500 grams, of the psychedelic drug MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, as well as conspiring to distribute 5 kilograms of cocaine in California on May 3, 2008.

FBI agents had intercepted and recorded telephone calls between Inouye and an unnamed man in St. Paul in January and February 2008. The calls were about a shipment of illegal drugs from California to Minnesota, according to a Department of Justice statement released Friday.

During one of the calls, Inouye said he sent a package of methamphetamine on Feb. 20, according to federal officials

Officers at the Federal Express facility at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport intercepted the package. The package contained methamphetamine and an air filter. Shipping records revealed that the package had been sent from a Fedex Kinko's store in Baldwin, Calif. Inouye was arrested on May 3.
