SPPD joins program to quickly locate lost kids, vulnerable adults

St. Paul, Minn. (AP) — The St. Paul Police Department is the latest law enforcement agency to join a program designed to quickly locate vulnerable adults or children who go missing.

Project Lifesaver uses tracking technology to help police respond quickly to missing person's reports on people with Alzheimer's, autism, or other cognitive issues. The person in the program wears a locator on the wrist or ankle. If the person goes missing, police can track him or her.

The goal is to save lives and reduce potential for injury by quickly bringing loved ones home.

Other agencies around the state and country also use the program. The Web site of the Project Lifesaver Foundation says it has a 100 percent save rate.
