Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem on Radio Heartland
by Dale Connelly, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — Life changes don't always mean the end of a journey. The New England-based band Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem have instead made those moments in life an opportunity to take a different fork on the road.
The four member band has been together for ten years in it's current formation, which is Rani Arbo on fiddle, husband Scott Kessel on percussion, Anand Nayak on guitars and Andrew Kinsey on bass. All four share lead and harmony vocals and songwriting. Rani and Scott had a child so they brought along their son on the road. They claim he had visited 30 states by the time he was two.
The band takes it time between recordings, as they all have side projects, and are currently working on a children's album. They were in the Twin Cities recently to perform for an entertainment showcase day for concert promoters. They stopped by the Radio Heartland studios to chat.
Songs performed: "Jerusalem Moan," "I'll Fly Away," "Big Old Life," and "They All Asked For You."
