Northfield, Minn. — The President of Carleton College has announced his retirement.

Robert Oden, who's been president of Carleton College in Northfield since 2002, will retire in June of 2010.

The 63-year old Oden led the private liberal arts college as it began its $300 million fundraising campaign in May of 2007. College officials say they've already raised $235 million and will reach their final goal next year.

The chair of the college's board of trustees says he reluctantly accepted Oden's decision, but says the board is grateful for his service.

Carleton College plans to create a presidential search committee within the next few weeks.
