Winona man killed by train in southeastern Minnesota

Winona, Minn. (AP) — Wabasha County authorities say a Winona man died early Sunday after being struck by a train in the southeastern Minnesota town of Kellogg.

Twenty-five-year-old Casey T. Merchlewitz was struck by a Canadian Pacific Railway train around 2:30 a.m. Sheriff's deputies and Wabasha police arrived to find that Merchlewitz was dead at the scene.

The cause remains under investigation.

Kellogg is about four miles southeast of Wabasha and about 25 miles northwest of Winona.
