St. Paul, Minn. — South St. Paul motorists will encounter detours and increased traffic congestion due to ramp closures on I-494 beginning September 14.

Crews will close the eastbound I-494 ramp to 7th Avenue and the 7th Avenue ramp to westbound I-494. The north frontage road will also be closed.

The westbound frontage road north of I-494 will also be closed between 5th and 7th avenues from late September to early October.

Motorists should also expect intermittent, non-rush hour shoulder closures near the I-494 and 7th Ave. interchange over the next several weeks.

The closures will allow crews to widen and rebuild the ramps with additional turn lanes, widen a portion of the frontage road, and install new lighting and signal systems.

Additional information about traffic closures can be found online www.511mn.org or by calling 511.
