Teachers give back-to-school tips

Three award-winning Minnesota teachers offer guidance for parents, students and teachers at the beginning of the school year.

• Amber Damm: 2009 Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Teaches 7th and 8th grade English and Language Arts at Clara Barton Elementary School in Minneapolis
• Derek Olson: 2008 Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Teaches 6th grade at Afton-Lakeland Elementary School in Stillwater.
• Sharon Ornelas: 2007 Milken Award winner. Teaches English Language Learners at Thomas Edison High School in Minneapolis.
