MnDOT announces rest area closures

It'll be more important to hit the bathroom before hitting the road in parts of Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation warned Tuesday that 13 rest stops and travel information centers will close temporarily because of construction projects. Some will be closed for days or weeks while others will be shuttered for more than a year.

The closures will start this month. Affected rest stops are on major roadways around Albert Lea, Avon, Duluth, Forest Lake, Harris, Owatonna, St. Charles, Stillwater and Worthington.

The department said portable toilet facilities will be provided at some sites during the construction.

More information on the closures can be found at www.dot.state.mn.us.
