Prescribed burn planned for Voyageurs National Park

St. Paul, Minn. — Anglers and boaters are being asked to stay away from a part of Voyageurs National Park in northern Minnesota on Thursday.

A prescribed burn near Blind Indian Narrows in Namakan Lake is part of research to see what what effect fire has on both vegetation and archeological artifacts, the National Park Service said in a release.

The service says the findings will help in the updating of the park's fire management plan.
