St. Paul, Minn. — Thunderstorms are expected for the Twin Cities metro area beginning at about 10 p.m. this evening.
Some storms have been moving through west central Minnesota late this afternoon, prompting a severe thunderstorm watch to be issued for 14 counties in that area. Some of the thunderstorms may be severe with damaging wind and large hail.
Large hail has already hit Otter Tail and Alexandria, according to the National Weather Service. Significant tree damage was also reported in Otter Tail.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch until 11 p.m. for 30 Minnesota counties, including Hennepin, Ramsey, Anoka, Dakota, Scott, and Washington counties.
