St. Paul, Minn. — After a four-year stint working on soloo records and side-projects, the Toronto- and Brooklyn-based band Metric has finally released their fourth album "Fantasies" and first since 2005's "Live It Out." Metric's well-balanced mix New Wave beginnings characterized the previous three albums. "Fantasies" is a push towards straight-forward pop-tinged rock with hints of the softer, poetic side of lead-singer Emily Haines.

The band has decided to release their latest record DIY-style. Getting only promotional help from Last Gang Records in Canada and Arts and Crafts in Mexico, they are handling the release of "Fantasies" in the US without the help of a label.

Songs performed: "Gimme Sympathy," "Help! I'm Alive," and "Front Row."
