Work underway in St. Paul light rail line
St. Paul, Minn. (AP) — Downtown St. Paul finally has physical evidence of what will soon be a major construction project to bring a light rail train to the city.
In the last few days city crews have been spray-painting and chalking symbols and numbers on streets and utility poles. It looks like graffiti, but it will guide workers who will start ripping up pavement as early as next month.
Still, construction on the line itself won't start until next summer at the earliest. The goal is to have it operating by 2014.
The $914 million line will run 11 miles from Minneapolis to St. Paul's Union Depot.
