Lone doctor provided relief for thousands in Darfur
February 10, 2009
St. Paul, Minn. — Two miles from the border of Sudan, in the desert of Chad, sits the Oure Cassoni refugee camp. Over 27,000 people from Sudan's Darfur region live in the camp in primitive conditions, with limited shelter, food and medical care.
The man in charge of that medical care for a year, was Ashis Brahma. He was, in fact, the only man providing medical attention to those thousands of people.
Dr. Brahma is in Minnesota this week to talk about the continuing refugee crisis around Darfur.
