Franken meets with Senate majority leader
Washington (AP) — Senate candidate Al Franken has met with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to brief him on the recount in Minnesota.
Republican Sen. Norm Coleman leads by 215 votes heading into the recount - or 0.008 percent.
Franken, a Democrat, told reporters after the meeting he is "cautiously optimistic" about his prospects.
He said he's eager to "roll up his sleeves" and get to work.
Franken is heading to New York City later Wednesday, where he'll attend a recount fundraiser Thursday night headlined by George Soros and Al Gore.
