President, U.S. Senate, Congress, and the Minnesota House of Representatives are the major races in the campaign of 2008. This is the first presidential election without an incumbent or sitting vice president involved since 1952.

Soon teams of elections officials, in many places surrounded by partisan and nonpartisan observers, will begin the laborious process of hand-counting 2.9 million Minnesota votes in the close election between Norm Coleman and Al Franken.
