Rep. Keith Ellison frustrated with changing face of bailout billby Tom Crann, Minnesota Public Radio
St. Paul, Minn. — We're getting more reaction now to the changing nature of the $700 billion financial bailout plan that Congress passed last month. Democrats are now calling for some of those funds to be used to help the nation's ailing auto industry.
Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson prefers the change of course he outlined last week. That includes buying up shares in troubled banks, but does not provide money for the auto industry.
Since that change of course, we've been checking in with members of Minnesota's Congressional delegation. Today, we talked to Democrat Keith Ellison, who represents Minnesota's 5th Congressional District. He voted for the bailout package last month and he joined Tom Crann by phone.
We'll talk to Republican Rep. Michelle Bachmann about this issue on Wednesday.
