St. Paul, Minn. — As part of the Minnesota Historical Society's History Forum series, foreign policy historian Howard Jones recently discussed the events that led to the Bay of Pigs in 1961, a significant challenge that faced a new President John F. Kennedy when he was newly elected.

Jones examined the effect this invasion had on Kennedy's foreign policy and what lessons, if any, the country took from the event.
