Early voting in Minnesota

Minnesota does not allow early voting the way some states, such as Iowa, do.

Minnesotans have to vote on election day in Minnesota, unless the voter will not be in their precinct on Election Day or they have a medical or religious reason that prevents them making it to the polls. If you a voter can't make it to the polls, they can get an absentee ballot from their county auditor starting next Friday, Oct. 3, and hand it in, mail it in or give it to someone to turn in for you.

You can down load absentee ballot applications in several different languages from the Secretary of State's Web site.

Unlike early voting in Iowa, Minnesota voters can change your mind if you've voted absentee. You just have to show up at your polling place on Election Day and cast a new ballot.
