The I-35W bridge reopens
Now that the 35W bridge is reopened, Metro Transit funds are drying up
by Tom Crann, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — Now that the 35W Bridge has re-opened, emergency transportation funds are drying up for Metro Transit.
The Metropolitan Council received $5 million from the federal government after the bridge collapsed. The money was dedicated to help cope with increased transit demands.
With commuters expected to return to their pre-collapse habits, we wondered how that might impact the transit system.
Bob Gibbons of Metro Transit, the transportation service of the Metropolitan Council, spoke to us about those issues.
