DNC has all the elements of great theater

After Barack Obama's acceptance speech tonight, the Democrats will wrap up their national convention in Denver, and attention will turn to St. Paul, where Republicans will gather to formally nominate John McCain as their standard-bearer in November's presidential election.

The quadrennial party gatherings are equal parts politics and pageantry, and Morning Edition arts commentator and St. Paul Pioneer Press theater critic Dominic Papatola talks with MPR's Cathy Wurzer about the theatrical elements of national political conventions.
