St. Paul, Minn. — New York's Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have been kicking out impeccable, James Brown-esque throwback funk and soul for nearly a decade. Their latest album, 2007's 100 Days, 100 Nights, is their best yet and has garnered much critical acclaim.
Powered by a tight rhythm section and Ms. Jones' incredible vocals, the band has toured relentlessly throughout their entire career. Finding themselves in the Twin Cities, they stopped by the Current studios for a recording session.
Songs performed: "I'm Not Gonna Cry," "100 Days, 100 Nights" and "Let Them Knock."
