St. Paul, Minn. — The IRS is warning of some new scams using the federal agency's name. The scams are related to the economic stimulus payments.

IRS spokeswoman, Carrie Resch, says people are sending emails to taxpayers, hoping they will give out personal information:

"And this email kind of preys on that, telling people that they qualify for a stimulus payment and then it provides a link to them with a form that they are supposed to submit online by a certain date. And it says that their payment may be delayed or may not receive one," Resch said.

Resch says the federal government will never contact people looking for personal information, because the government already has it.
