Minnesotan is the oldest in the Women's Open fieldby Cathy Wurzer, Minnesota Public Radio
St. Paul, Minn. — The Women's Open golf tournament starts today with three days of practice rounds. The tournament starts in earnest on Thursday with round one, and continues through Sunday.
The youngest player in the field will be Alexis Thompson, 13, who qualified for the tournament for the second straight year.
On the other end of the spectrum is Martha Nause, the oldest player in field. Nause, who is 53, coaches golf at Macalester College in St. Paul.
She used to play regularly on the LPGA tour, but these days Nause just plays in a few selected tournaments. She told MPR's Cathy Wurzer that may actually be an advantage for her in the Open.
